Applicant Resumes That Address Specific Needs Reach The Top At Infonxx
This month our sister site,
MobileWirelessJobs,
interviews Therese Amedeo, Director of Employment, at Infonxx, located just outside of New Jersey in Bethlehem, PA to learn more about her company's
staffing and relocation plans.

TA = Therese Amedeo
NJJM: How quick is the turn around between sourcing the candidate, interviewing the candidate, offering the candidate a position, and hiring the candidate?
TA: Time line often depends on the particular position. For the more technical positions it may take a little longer to screen- however we are committed to doing our best in keeping the candidate informed as to where we are in the process and what their status is. Another factor of course is the availability of a candidate – we understand many may be currently working so we will work around their schedules to make the interviews happen. If the candidate is coming from outside a commutable distance, we handle the travel arrangements.

NJJM: Have you tried sourcing qualified candidates using any other direct marketing techniques such as email marketing or SMS text messaging?
TA: One initiative we are close to launching is a monthly e-newsletter to those interested in employment with IINFONXX- an informative but quick read to update jobseekers on what’s new with INFONXX that month including what new technology, product offerings, events etc. in which we are involved. It will also include current job openings. Anyone interested in being placed on the list is welcome to get in touch with me!
NJJM: Is this process any faster when the resume is submitted on-line vs. offline, or is there no difference? What can a
Candidate do to get noticed by HR when applying for a job?
TA: To “get noticed” we find it most helpful when applicants confirm how they meet the requirements in the job by one- updating their resume to reflect that experience and two- taking a step further to outline in their cover letter the experience they have that match our needs. It makes it easier for us to put those at the top and say to the hiring manager- this applicant looks to be more on track with us versus others who may not look to us as if they have they really met the listed requirements..

UNICON Sources The Best Talent Regardless Of Location And Backs It Up With
Strong Diversity and Training Programs
As part of our new Q&A interview series with hiring managers, MobileWirelessJobs recently caught up with Holly Solomon, Technical Recruiter at UNICON
International, Inc., to learn more about her company's staffing, training
and compliance plans.
MWJ= MobileWirelessJobs.com;
HS= Holly Solomon.
NJJM: Is your company a supporter of affirmative action?
HS: UNICON International, Inc. is fully committed to the concept and practice of equal opportunity and affirmative action in all aspects of employment. UNICON has recently developed its first formal Affirmative Action Plan (AAP) to reinforce this commitment.
We are proud of the progress we have made on the diversity front which was confirmed by AAP analysis that showed for the overwhelming majority of our workforce, employment levels of women and minorities are representative of the recruiting population. Nonetheless, UNICON expects to continue its successful outreach efforts and to ensure that all applicants and employees are treated fairly and based on job-related criteria.
It should also be noted that UNICON was found to be in full compliance with sex discrimination guidelines and that there is no evidence of discrimination in any form against female employees.
NJJM: What type of training program does your company have? What is the goal of your training programs?
HS: UNICON offers group training to provide opportunities for employees to enhance their professional skills. The program includes workshops or seminars sponsored by UNICON for all employees, dependent upon work location. All UNICON employees are encouraged to participate.
We also offer up to $2000 per year in educational assistance reimbursement for outside workshops, seminars, professional membership fees, certifications, for-credit courses, books, and other education-related costs. This educational assistance program is intended to facilitate further enhancement of our employees’ performance and professional abilities.

Three area TD Banknorth
branches set to close
(excerpt reprinted under permission by the
Bergen News).
Branches in Fort Lee, Hackensack and Ridgefield Park are among nine TD Banknorth
offices set to close early next year, bank officials said.
The closings are an outgrowth of the April acquisition of Interchange Bank by TD Banknorth, and its acquisition of Hudson United Bank in January.
Scheduled for closing are the Interchange branches at 899 Palisade Ave., Fort Lee, and at 25 Main St., Court Plaza North, Hackensack and the Hudson United branch at 240-244 Main St., Ridgefield Park.
“We are committed to serving the needs of our growing customer base as efficiently and effectively as possible,” said Tara Williams, TD Banknorth spokesperson.
“With the planned combining of TD Banknorth and Interchange branches, there were some area branches located very close to each other. We looked at what locations offered the best convenience and access to our customers, and what locations best accommodated a larger group of customers,” she said.
Regarding any possible layoffs, she said, “All branch employees will remain where they are now. We’re working to insure that everyone who is doing a good job at their current branch and wants to remain with the company will have opportunities to remain with it.”
TD Banknorth currently operates 102 branches in New Jersey, including Bergen County.

June 2006 - NJ Employment Watch.
Reprinted with permission. By
New Jersey Business &
Industry Association (NJBIA).
New Jersey's private-sector employers added 7,700 new jobs in May on top of a gain of 4,600 in April, providing the biggest boost to private-sector employment growth so far this year, according to information released June 13 by the NJ Department of Labor (NJDOL) in its monthly employment report.
With the creation of 12,300 private-sector jobs in April and May, New Jersey has added a modest 11,900 private-sector jobs in the first five months this year. The April-May employment spike offset a small job loss in the first quarter.
“The addition of 12,300 private sector jobs in April and May is a welcome development,” said NJBIA President Philip Kirschner. “We are hopeful that this is the beginning of a period of strong job growth.”
The bulk of the gains so far this year have come in the service sector, particularly in leisure and hospitality (3,900), education and health services (3,600) and professional and business services (2,200). Over the same period, the manufacturing sector has lost 3,100 jobs, and construction has added 900 jobs.
