About the Role

We are seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrists to provide inpatient psychiatric care to adult patients in a modern, Joint Commission accredited public psychiatric hospital. This is a full-time, on-site, Monday Friday position with optional paid on-call opportunities.

It is 180-bed intermediate psychiatric hospital serving adults ages and is the receiving hospital for all short-term psychiatric facilities in Essex County. Our mission is to provide evidence-based, recovery-oriented care and to support patients successful transition back into the community.

Joint Commission accredited
No emergency department or walk-in psychiatric screening
Structured discharge planning and multidisciplinary treatment teams
Strong integration with county mental health resources (PAC, NAMI, Mental Health Advisory Board)

Schedule & Workload:
Monday Friday, 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m.
Assigned inpatient caseload of patients, depending on unit
Optional on-call coverage available at $100/hour

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive psychiatric care to adult inpatients
Perform psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
Manage psychopharmacologic treatment
Provide individual psychotherapy and crisis intervention
Develop and oversee treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
Document all clinical services in the electronic medical record
Communicate effectively with nursing staff, social work, psychology, and hospital leadership

Requirements:
Active New Jersey License or willing to Apply
Board Certified or Board Eligible
Eligible for hospital credentialing and county security clearance
Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills
