Job Title: Mold Maker (Tool & Die)
Location: Rockland, Westchester County, & Hudson Valley Area
Schedule: On-site, Monday-Friday (5 days/week)
Pay Rate: $40-$50/hour (based on experience)
Overview:
A well-established manufacturing organization is seeking a skilled Mold Maker (Tool & Die) to join its team. This role is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining in-house molds and tooling with minimal supervision. The position requires working with tight tolerances and high-quality standards, utilizing a variety of tool room equipment and collaborating with external tooling vendors when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow cGMP guidelines and ensure compliance across all activities
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Keep detailed logs of all work performed
- Analyze blueprints and engineering drawings to determine mold requirements
- Inspect molds and components for accuracy and quality compliance
- Troubleshoot and resolve mold-related issues (e.g., flashing, galling, venting, cooling)
- Disassemble, assemble, repair, clean, and polish molds with precision
- Perform close-tolerance machining using CNC lathes, milling machines, and grinders
- Fabricate and assemble dies, molds, fixtures, and tooling components
- Use precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy
- Modify and enhance existing molds, tools, and components
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate issues to supervisors
- Ensure molds are production-ready and meet all dimensional and visual quality standards
- Recommend design improvements and material substitutions when applicable
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical training or related experience preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a mold/tool maker
- At least 1 year of experience working with injection molds
- Strong understanding of molding processes and troubleshooting techniques
- Proficiency with tool room equipment and machine practices
Skills & Abilities:
- Injection molding experience required
- Familiarity with ISO standards preferred
- Pharmaceutical industry experience is a strong plus (not required)
- Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to interpret complex blueprints and specifications
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Travel:
- Occasional travel may be required, though it is not expected to be frequent
Pay Details: $40.00 to $50.00 per hour
